Bariatric Surgery Procedures
Bariatric surgery can be a life-saving procedure for many morbidly obese patients. While losing weight can improve the way our patients look and feel, the latest data also shows that surgery reduces the risk of potentially fatal health complications, including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, sleep apnea, asthma, and joint pain, and even some types of cancer.
At La Jolla Weight Management patients from North County and all of San Diego and Southern California have two bariatric surgery options: laparoscopic gastric bypass or the LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Band. Our surgeons educate patients fully about their options and work with them closely to determine which procedure will best meet their needs.
Minimally Invasive Procedures
Many surgical procedures that once required a surgeon to create sizeable, incisions can now be performed as minimally invasive, or laparoscopic, procedures. At Surgical Associates of La Jolla, our surgeons offer general laparoscopic procedures such as gall bladder removal and inguinal hernia repair, as well as advanced laparoscopic procedures like surgery for reflux (“GERD”), colon resection, incisional hernia repair, and solid organ surgeries like removing the spleen or adrenal glands.
